Our Pledge at Aero Friedrichshafen 2024

Our decades-long relationship with the international aviation community allows us to join in industry sustainability efforts, in addition to our own. At Aero Friedrichshafen 2024, we pledge to do our part in creating a more sustainable show by managing our waste, water and energy on site. Our teams are committed to investing intentionally for our display, seeking more ways to reuse, recycle and donate materials.

Committed to Thoughtful Travel

At Textron Aviation, serving both our aircraft owners and the environment go hand-in-hand. For international travel to trade shows, we are committed to either utilizing local customer aircraft for exhibition or flying all company-owned Cessna® and Beechcraft® turbine aircraft from the United States on Sustainable Aviation Fuel for turbine products (SAF). SAF is derived from sustainable sources and has a smaller carbon footprint than jet fuel.

Sustainability continues to be a major focus for the global aviation industry. At Textron Aviation, we embraced the industry goals set by the Business Aviation Commitment on Climate Change*:

  • Achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050
  • Create carbon-neutral growth from 2020 and beyond
  • Increase fuel efficiency by an average of 2% per year between 2020 & 2030

SUSTAINABILITY STARTS AT HOME.

Textron Aviation has entered into a 20-year contract with Evergy, a Kansas-based energy company, and its New Green Energy Program. We have utilized 100-Percent renewable wind energy to power all of our Kansas based facilities in 2022.

CLEANER FUEL.
CLEANER SKIES.

All Textron Aviation turbine aircraft can operate with Sustainable Aviation Fuel for turbine products (SAF), a fuel with a lower overall carbon footprint. Since 2020, all customers of new BEECHCRAFT Turboprop, CESSNA Turboprop, and CITATION jet aircraft are offered SAF in their initial tank upon delivery of the aircraft. Additionally, the Textron Aviation Service Center in Wichita, KS offers SAF as part of the regular customer service experience.

SUSTAINABLE INTERIORS BY DESIGN.

We are committed to pursuing sustainable solutions throughout the interior of our aircraft cabins, utilizing green materials in textiles, carpets and wood veneers. Sourcing biodegradable materials with long life spans and clean manufacturing processes, such as aviation grade leather, contributes to mindful sustainable design. We are also conscious about selecting materials only from carefully managed forests, and leveraging surplus inventory to greater reduce our environmental footprint.

With the creation of Textron eAviation, we are on the cusp of scalable, sustainable aviation.

RECYCLING. REUSING. REPURPOSING.

Textron Aviation has a robust recycling program that includes scrap metal and composite materials discarded during the manufacturing process. Our recycling program lessens the burden on the need for the consumption of new natural resources. Additionally, landing gear, avionics, and electronics can be recycled and repurposed.
